When people support one-another, amazing things can happen."Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labour: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up." Ecclesiastes 4: 9 -10 ... See MoreSee Less

New Year, new start

As we look forward to this New Year, we hope to take a step forward in the Redevelopment of the ‘New Room’. The room is looking very neglected now and deteriorating with every month that passes. The vision we had nearly four years ago is coming to fruition. We have big decisions to make as we come to the stage where the architectural drawings are finalized. We then need to decide which builders we will approach and when we go out to tender. Please pray for us during this process. We still need funds to complete the project, and we are trusting in God to provide all we need to develop the vision of the café/hub.

Our work is limited at the moment due to the increase in the Covid-19 infection rate but we are looking at ways in which we can meet together to pray and plan for the future. You have an important part to play in the future of our church. We appreciate all that everyone has done over the busy Christmas period, and especially those who work tirelessly to keep our activities running, including our services on a Sunday morning.

As the church opens up with more activities, we will need help to run them, we would appreciate anyone coming forward with offers of support. The more people we have helping the more activities we can put on. We want to look at new ways of being church. New ways of worship, new ways of sharing in social activities, new ways of encountering God. We need to pray about the way forward for our church. God doesn’t stand still and neither can we. The world outside our building is changing at a tremendous pace, I am not saying we need to keep up with it but what I am saying is that God has called us to communicate the good news to the people in our community. When Jesus spoke about good news, he referred to the ‘poor’ hearing good news, freedom for prisoners, recovery of sight to the blind, release of the oppressed and to tell people of God’s blessing.

In all kinds of ways, we want to serve our community. We had our Christmas Fair and our Wreath Festival where we welcomed people into the building. We opened the church up two weeks before Christmas, and we have had good conversations with people who enjoyed the music and the nativity scene. Even though the choirs couldn’t attend at the Carol service, we were pleased with a good number of people who shared with us in celebrating Christ’s birth. We also had our first Christmas Day service for a long time, and we are grateful to

Andrew and Kate for leading a very good service on Christmas Day.

Happy New Year and God Bless Peter
